Endogeny Editorial Team (report)
Endogeny of the Editorial Team (2025 - report)
In the context of good editorial and publishing practices, endogeny refers to the excessive overlap between a journal’s editorial governance (editors, editorial board members, and reviewers) and its authorship base, which may compromise editorial independence, transparency, and the integrity of the peer-review process.
To prevent endogeny and to ensure compliance with international best practices aligned with DOAJ (DOAJ.ORG) principles, the journal adopts the following safeguard: “The proportion of published research papers in which at least one author is an editor, editorial board member, or reviewer of the journal must not exceed 25% in either of the two most recent issues.”
Accordingly, in 2025, Revista Mythos maintained an editorial composition aligned with internationally accepted standards of editorial independence, diversity, and transparency.
During the reporting period, the level of editorial endogeny was 20%. It is important to note that the majority of the editorial board members are not affiliated with the host institution, ensuring institutional diversity and editorial autonomy.
When editorial documents are analyzed together with the authorship of published papers, the overall proportion of contributions originating from members of the editorial body reaches 25%. This figure reflects the active academic participation of editors in the journal’s intellectual production and does not indicate institutional concentration or any compromise of peer-review independence.
The presence of a limited proportion of contributions by members of the editorial body is justified by their role in maintaining academic coherence, editorial continuity, and adherence to ethical standards. Simultaneously, the predominance of external contributors and editors from different institutions and countries reinforces Revista Mythos’s commitment to transparency, academic rigor, and the mitigation of conflicts of interest.
Therefore, the observed levels of endogeny in Revista Mythos in 2025 are moderate, controlled, and fully compatible with DOAJ guidelines, reflecting a balanced editorial and authorship profile with broad national and international representation.

This level reflects a controlled and moderate participation of members of the editorial body in the journal’s published content, without compromising the independence of editorial decision-making or the integrity of the peer-review process.
