Editorial Team – Roles and Responsibilities
The journal Mythos follows internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing, in accordance with the principles of transparency, academic integrity, and editorial quality.
The roles and responsibilities of the editorial team are defined as follows.
1. Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief holds overall responsibility for the journal’s scientific quality and editorial integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Define, implement, and oversee the editorial policies, journal scope, and author guidelines, ensuring compliance with open access principles and publication ethics;
- Supervise the entire editorial and peer review process, ensuring that all submissions are evaluated in a fair, transparent, and rigorous manner;
- Make the final decision on the acceptance, rejection, or revision of manuscripts based on reviewers’ reports and scholarly merit;
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards in publishing, including the management of conflicts of interest, cases of scientific misconduct, and the prevention of editorial endogeny;
- Oversee special issues and the work of guest editors, ensuring consistency with the journal’s editorial standards;
- Represent the journal before indexing services, databases, directories, and academic institutions, maintaining up-to-date and accurate public information.
2. Technical Editor
The Technical Editor is responsible for supporting the editorial workflow and publication process from an operational and technical perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Manage manuscript submissions, conducting an initial screening to ensure compliance with the journal’s editorial policies and submission guidelines;
- Facilitate communication among authors, reviewers, and editors, ensuring clarity, traceability, and adherence to established timelines;
- Verify the technical and formal quality of manuscripts, including formatting, references, metadata, and adherence to editorial standards;
- Support the organization and documentation of the peer review process, maintaining accurate editorial records;
- Ensure that published content meets technical and publishing standards, contributing to transparency and editorial quality.
3. Editorial Board and Advisory Board
The Editorial Board and Advisory Board are composed of scholars with recognized academic expertise from diverse institutions and fields relevant to the journal’s scope.
Editorial Board – Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and periodic review of the journal’s editorial and scientific policies;
- Participate in the peer review process by reviewing manuscripts or recommending qualified external reviewers;
- Advise the Editor-in-Chief on complex editorial decisions, particularly in cases involving conflicting reviews or potential conflicts of interest;
- Promote the journal within national and international academic networks, encouraging high-quality submissions;
- Keep their institutional affiliations and areas of expertise up to date.
Advisory Board – Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic guidance on the journal’s scientific direction, positioning, and long-term development;
- Offer critical assessments and recommendations to enhance editorial quality and academic relevance;
- Support the adoption of international best practices in scholarly publishing;
- Act as academic ambassadors of the journal, strengthening its visibility and reputation.
